Position Summary:
This role will plan, direct, and coordinate the storage, distribution, and transportation operations for all warehousing customers; analyze processes, procedures, expenditures and other financial information to develop plans, policies, and budgets for maximizing profits, utilizing space, and improving services; and establish and maintain positive customer relations to ensure timely, quality services. This role will also focus on the customer experience and establish a culture of always enhancing this experience.
The incumbent must create and sustain these capabilities within the business and consistently look for opportunities to enhance value added services, provide cost savings, and create an organization that is accountable for providing flawless execution across functions.
Major Responsibilities:
Manage and develop a team of 5 : 7 direct reports in different geographic locations; provide strategic direction and leadership to ensure each location is successful from both a financial and a customer centric perspective, with a focus on the customer experience.
Coach and develop direct reports to support their career progression as well as manage succession planning within team. Support the professional development of all team members by providing coaching, facilitating project:related learning opportunities, recommending training opportunities, and monitoring progress toward professional objectives as appropriate.
Provide guidance and direction for long:term development of improved operations and relationships both internally and externally.
Develop long:term strategic plans for enhancing operational effectiveness of logistics and inventory.
Directs and coordinates financial and budget activities to maximize profits and increase efficiency.
Reviews financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction and program improvement.
Establishes and implements departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures.
Determines staffing requirements, and interviews, hires and trains new managers.
Qualifications
Education/Training:
Minimum:
Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Materials Management, or Business.
Related
Experience/Requirements:
Minimum:
5+ years experience in customer supply chain management, ordering and customer service functions, a strong financial background, and an understanding of EDI (Electronic Delivery Inventory).
Comprehensive knowledge of product logistics and customer service technologies, strong project planning and management skills, experience with data management, product forecasting, volume/pricing models, and inventory management.
Working knowledge of ISO Quality and Environmental Requirements.
High sense of urgency and accountability.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to travel at least 50 of the time.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Minimum:
7+ years supervising manager level direct reports and the potential to lead, develop and build a team while driving a high level of engagement.
Effective communicator; excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to communicate with all levels of the organization including senior level leadership.
